The Role

This is a key role in leading the strategy and delivery on EDI for its flagship programmes: CoSTAR National R&D Lab and the UKRI AI Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in AI for Digital Media Inclusion. This is an exciting role in shaping the future of EDI in the UK creative industries and supporting growth through inclusive innovation.

The Inclusion Executive Producer will develop strategy and ensure delivery of best practice in EDI for the National Lab’s internal R&D programmes, culture and work as well as acting as ensuring our collaborations with external industry meet our ambitious goals for EDI across the sector. They will contribute to a range of Access Programme activities at the National Lab and Challenge Projects in the CDT related to inclusion and ethics. This post holder will be responsible for ensuring these programmes and delivery align with the strategic priorities at the CoSTAR National Lab and the CDT respectively.

The post-holder will need to work with a wide range of industry and policy stakeholders to achieve a positive profile, provide thought leadership on EDI, build awareness and increase the reputation of the National Lab both in the UK and internationally. They will be the ‘go to’ person for ensuring KPIs on the CoSTAR National Lab and CDT relating to EDI are accurately captured, monitored and reported, working closely with data and project management leads to deliver this key component of the CoSTAR project.

About The National R&D Lab

The CoSTAR National Lab is the largest ever investment in creative industries R&D by UKRI. A £51.1m programme led by Royal Holloway, University of London to develop a National R&D Lab to ensure the UK’s screen and performance sectors have the innovation, infrastructure, skills, and expertise needed to compete globally. The National R&D Lab will place Equality, Diversity, and Environmental Sustainability at the heart of all we do: from our team culture to the research programmes we run, to how we collaborate with partners.

Our Lab will include dedicated Stage and Studio space at Pinewood Studios, advanced creative computing technologies including AI, virtual production, and 5G systems. Our consortium brings together world-leading research teams at Royal Holloway, University of Surrey, Abertay University; and National Film & Television School. Our industry partners include BT and Disguise, whose systems power some of the world's biggest live shows.

The UKRI AI Centre for Doctoral Training in AI for Digital Media Inclusion (CDT) brings together the world-leading expertise of the Surrey Institute for People-Centred AI (PAI) at the University of Surrey, a pioneer in AI technologies for the creative industries (including vision, audio, language, and machine learning), and StoryFutures at Royal Holloway, University of London, a leader in creative production and audience experience (arts, psychology, user research, and creative production).

The CDT programme is led by PAI and funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), this programme is part of the government’s strategic effort to position the UK at the forefront of global AI expertise. Our goal is to train PhD researchers to be ready to lead the transformation towards responsible, AI-enabled inclusive media. Our CDT programme is designed to develop the skills and understanding required to create intelligent media services which are inclusive for all. Through a unique challenge-led PhD research training programme, co-created with stakeholders and industry partners, we aim to train future industry leaders to shape real-world digital media inclusion.

What You Will Be Doing

- Implement and deliver National Lab and CDT strategy, reviewing and iterating our approach as we deliver against milestones and KPIs


* Liaising with industry to disseminate and network best practice and challenges in and out of the National Lab and CDT
* Devising workshops, programmes and events that support a creative industries EDI-focused innovation ecosystem
* Engage with a diverse array of stakeholders across academia, creative technology companies, research organizations, and creative practitioners.

You Should Apply If You

* Can demonstrate excellent leadership and delivery of EDI policy and practice in a Creative Industries context.
* Have a passion for inclusive innovation and a demonstrable interest in emerging technologies such as XR and AI.
* Have a positive ‘can do’ and creative problem-solving approach, able to juggle multiple stakeholders demands to produce compelling results.
* An ability to work diverse and multidisciplinary teams.

This is a part-time, fixed term role available for 8 months from 1st July 2025.

The post is based in Egham, Surrey where the University is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London, however there is an expectation of significant working time at the CoSTAR National Lab based at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.
