Job summary

A rare opportunity has arisen for a part time, experienced Physiotherapist to join the Acute Mental Health therapies team based in Hertfordshire for a fixed 12 month period (maternity cover).

This could be a fixed term contract or secondment opportunity for internal applicants.

The role is within the friendly and supportive team in the Acute Inpatient & Crisis Service, based at Kingfisher Court in Radlett.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

* work as an influential and integral member of a diverse multi-disciplinary team
* be able to demonstrate an interest and specialist knowledge in working with mental health service users
* have excellent communication and organisational skills
* provide comprehensive Physiotherapy assessment and intervention for specified service user group
* carry a caseload as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and provide clinical leadership

Job description Job responsibilities
* To provide supervision to students within the work setting
* To lead in a specialist area and contribute to the development of specialist service related policies.
* To provide highly specialised physiotherapy assessment and treatment for service users with complex mental health and physical health needs, and to provide expert advice, guidance and information to health and social care professionals, carers and relatives and other non-professionals.
* To provide this service within the adults inpatient units in HPFT:
o Oak, Swift, Robin and Owl Kingfisher Court, Radlett
o Aston Stevenage
o Albany Lodge St Albans
* To hold responsibility for own case load, working without direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular one to one sessions with the line manager/ Professional Lead, formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review, case conferences and reflective practice.
* To work alongside the established Senior Physiotherapist working in Older Adults Mental Health inpatient units.
* To undertake a significant clinical caseload to a high professional standard, using specialist knowledge and skills from theoretical and practical experience.
* To be responsible for supervision, education and assessment of therapy assistants and to oversee the clinical supervision of more junior staff/students.
* To undertake/lead evidence-based audit and research projects to develop and enhance personal and teams clinical practice within their area; to make recommendations to clinical lead/ head of service for changes to practice by the team; to implement specific changes to practice; to write and/or contribute to service protocols.
