Overview

We are looking to recruit a Senior Technical Writer to work on a range of projects across several industries (aero, defence and others) and to support the growth of our in-house capability. This position will involve the creation and updating of various technical publications in line with industry specifications and standards. This is a hybrid role – mainly home working, with attendance at the Wimborne or Bristol office as required.

Element Digital Engineering is a leading provider of specialist engineering simulation, design, and consultancy support to clients across many industries – including Aerospace, Automotive, Energy, Built Environment and Chemical Process – in the UK and internationally. As a part of our team, you will play a central role in providing design support and verification services, operational troubleshooting, and technical safety assessments.


Responsibilities

* Support and develop complex engineering descriptive and procedural documentation for Tier 1 OEM suppliers, including user guides, manuals, and other technical documentation
* Research, interpret, and create new and amended textual data and images for technical publications/data modules/IPC/CMM
* Act as the point of contact and expert for Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to ensure Technical Publication requirements are understood and accounted for across the engineering development lifecycle
* Maintain product and service quality and ensure delivery within budget and timescales
* Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and engineering/support staff at all levels across multi-discipline engineering teams
* Willingness to travel within the UK


Skills / Qualifications

* Experience with desktop publishing software (e.g. FrameMaker, Arbortext) and ability to work with new publishing production tools and processes including SGML and XML
* Proven aerospace engineering experience, preferably in a military context
* Strong English language skills, including in Simplified English
* Working knowledge of S2000M; knowledge and experience of S3000L
* Practical experience of mechanical engineering and technical authorship
* Creation of technical illustrations is desirable but not essential
