Do you have a passion for sound, tech, and helping creative minds bring music to life? Are you ready to be the behind-the-scenes hero of a thriving music department? We are looking an experienced and enthusiastic Vocational Skills Practitioner to provide support for students within our Music department in order to motivate them to develop the skills and confidence to participate and succeed on their study programme. Whilst desirable, experience in an education setting is not everything! In fact, this is an excellent way to start your career in education and build the experience you need. This exciting role will include: Running the technician’s office to support students and staff in our recording, production and live performance spaces. Managing stock of microphones, various recording, production and live sound equipment to and from students during their classes. Maintenance of all music performance and production spaces. Working with suppliers, manufacturers, stakeholders and college teams to ensure the smooth and professional running of the technical aspects of the music department. If you can demonstrate the following then we’d love to hear from you: Strong knowledge of music recording, production and performance environments with experience in use of Logic, Digital recording systems and Analogue routing. This includes use of professional interfaces and routing. Strong knowledge of input selection to include microphones, DI, MIDI to be able to help support learners develop their skills and knowledge. Knowledge of recognised systems and brands to help support maintenance and replacement of equipment should things fail or need repair. Experience of Mac computers is essential for this role. Excellent customer service to be help to help support and develop students skills effectively. To also support the staff team with delivery and running of the Music Performance and production courses. To be able to work well under pressure and problem solve in the moment to help students make progress and to support teaching staff. Closing date: 12th September 2025. Annual salary: £14.64 to £15.62 per hour including holiday pay (subject to qualifications, skills and experience) Hours: part time, approximately 17 hours per week, starting asap. Fixed term contract initially until 13.06.26.
