Job Description:
Job overview
Please note this role is based at Kendal.
This is an excellent opportunity to join the Renal Home Therapy Service in South Cumbria. We have recently expanded our service to open a new home dialysis training facility based at Westmorland renal centre (Westmorland General Hospital, Kendal).
We have a vacancy and are seeking individuals who would like to expand their knowledge in renal services or develop new skills. The post involves ongoing education and training of patients and relatives on peritoneal or home haemodialysis to enable them to dialyse independently at home.
You will be required to work across the hospital-based training unit at Westmorland renal centre as well as the community setting covering Lancashire and South Cumbria.
The service also provides an acute drop-in service for the home dialysis patient. The Home Therapies Kendal team will work closely with the Home-therapies team based in Lancashire at Chorley District Hospital.
You will be highly motivated with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills and can work independently as a lone worker and within a multidisciplinary team setting.
The role requires you to work across all sites of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust at Chorley and Preston Hospitals, with the main site being Westmorland Dialysis unit.
In return, we can offer a huge commitment to your ongoing development.
Main duties of the job
The unit offers many opportunities for growth and development for any staff nurse focused on gaining new skills and leadership.
Training needs are fully supported on the unit, and you will always be encouraged to develop.
You will be warmly welcomed and well supported by a passionate team who aspire to provide excellent care.
We are a friendly team and would welcome anyone considering a career with us to contact Tracy, our Unit Manager, for an informal chat about what we can offer.
Working for our organisation
Working with us gives you the knowledge and pride that your activities genuinely make a difference to our patients and staff, ensuring we keep thriving and delivering outstanding healthcare across our local towns.
You’ll have access to varied development opportunities, learn new skills, meet great people, and do things you’ve never done before. You’ll learn about working in a hospital, interacting with diverse roles to build skills and enhance your career.
You’ll make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold, and help innovate to improve practices. Everything centers around patient care and enhancing their experience, making your role pivotal and something to be proud of.
