Technical Claims Consultant Property Liability

What you’ll be doing
Reporting directly to the Technical Claims Team Leader you’ll settle a variety of third‑party property liability claims as economically as possible while maximising the speed of settlement and safeguarding the company’s become an integral part of a centre of technical excellence for property liability claims where you’ll provide advice and guidance to colleagues and other business areas within Direct Line Group.
Key accountabilities
* Manage own portfolio of complex and/or higher‑value commercial direct property liability claims in accordance with personal delegated handling authority.
* Liaise with legal advisors (solicitors and counsel) where necessary over issues of policy indemnity and legal liability.
* Using the appropriate medium negotiate a fair and reasonable settlement of the Third Party claim.
* Ensure knowledge of legal and procedural developments affecting claims handling is kept fully up to date. Where appropriate evaluate any relevant changes or developments provide input into any impact assessment or determination of approach that should be taken by Direct Line and communicate results as necessary.
* Where appropriate provide technical advice and support to other business areas to support the achievement of business objectives and be aware and make others aware of developing market trends.
* Focus on costs process improvements and/or efficiency to contribute to the profitability of Direct Line.
* Be aware of and comply on an ongoing basis with the rules and requirements any legal/regulatory/risk management frameworks.
* Identify own and manage the risks involved in running our business appropriate to the role in line with the Direct Line risk framework.
* Whilst this is a property liability role the team looks after a wide variety of liability claims and as such there is an opportunity to progress and handle other liability claims.
Our hybrid model offers a best of both worlds approach. When you’ll be in the office depends on your role and team but colleagues spend at least 2 days a week in the office.
What you’ll need
* Expertise in handling Property Liability claims
* Manage end-to-end claims processes with a preference for experience handling claims valued up to 100k.
* Understand common law and insurance‑related legislation
* Ability to analyse complex issues identify root causes and formulate effective solutions.
