Overview
Construction Delivery Manager (Mechanical) at Amentum. Energy Programmes supports major project delivery across nuclear power and related technologies, including Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C and other initiatives. The role covers field activities related to the construction of a designated section of works and on-site facilitation, specifically the installation of pressurized rotating equipment in the turbine hall during mechanical erection from civil handover to commissioning.
Work involves day-to-day on-site supervision and direction of the works to safely and efficiently deliver the project. We are seeking candidates who can work in client-facing and internal roles, delivering major programme and project management capabilities through the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
* Support contract partners in delivering their works packages to enable efficient delivery of their sections.
* Recommend temporary measures to mitigate safety or quality concerns; follow up with appropriate actions (e.g., issue communications, meetings) to avoid cessation of works, including document reviews and assurance audits.
* Monitor site works; record findings in a construction daily log and report up to the Senior Construction Delivery Manager. Escalate issues via detailed reports.
* Proactively communicate with site functions (H&S, quality, surveillance, commercial, project controls, logistics) and other Construction Delivery Managers to maintain timely reporting and coordination; attend pre-start briefings and support delivery of key messages to the contractor’s organisation.
* Attend PLOD/PLOW and technical meetings with the contractor; ensure outputs are recorded and issued to the Senior Construction Delivery Manager.
* Undertake and record safety and/or assurance inspections in support of the project HSPI’s.
* Ensure clear, two-way communication with the Construction Delivery Lead so activities and issues are directed appropriately.
Qualifications
* Experience delivering projects, including construction sequencing, recovery plans and resource allocation.
* Good understanding of CDM Regulations.
* Ability to write informative, concise, and meaningful reports.
* Ability to motivate and energise contract partners by building a climate of trust and encouraging alternative views.
* Qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent mechanical vocational training and experience.
* SMSTS or IOSH qualification.
