Overview
Be a qualified pharmacy technician seeking to gain further experience whilst carrying out a broad range of duties including drug history taking, assessment of patients’ own drugs, supply of medicines, dispensing, procurement, distribution and stock control within the Pharmacy Department and across the Trust.
Undertake further education and training to advance the role of Pharmacy Technicians within the department. Support the main dispensary in the provision of an extended hours service. Expand and broaden skills and abilities. Support the rotational pharmacy team in a busy pharmacy department, combining duties of in‑patient dispensary, ward work, procurement and supervision and training of assistants and students.
Key Responsibilities
* Drug history taking and assessment of patient medication.
* Supply, dispensing and issuing of medicines.
* Procurement and distribution of medicines and stock control.
* Support extended hours service at main dispensary.
* Supervise and train assistants and students.
* Routine final accuracy check of individually dispensed items for inpatients, discharges and controlled drugs.
Qualifications & Experience
* NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services, BTEC (Pharmaceutical Science), Level 3 Diploma in The Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians, or equivalent.
* Registration or ability to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
* Proven experience delivering pharmaceutical services within a pharmacy environment.
* ACT qualified or working towards ACT to routinely perform final accuracy checks.
* Pre‑registration pharmacy technicians expected to qualify within the next 6 months are welcome to apply.
