The Support Worker plays a crucial role within Changing Lives, providing information, advice, and guidance. Undertaken via referral and direct individual support, the Support Worker's aim is to enable service users to live independently and work towards overcoming the interconnected problems that lead them to access our services. Your key activities will include:
1. Working individually or as part of a team to build productive relationships with individuals accessing the Changing Lives service.
2. Supporting, listening, guiding, and signposting service users to receive the necessary support to manage their physical environment.
3. Building relationships on a one-to-one basis or within a group environment to provide key support to service users and enhance their personal wellbeing.
4. Carrying out regular building health and safety inspections, identifying risk factors, responding accordingly, and performing basic repairs where required.
5. Ensuring that the standards of the building are maintained by following designated tasks, whilst maintaining high levels of cleanliness, order, and sanitation, meeting all legal and statutory requirements to operate safely, effectively, and efficiently.
6. Empowering service users to improve their life skills through workshops or signposting to external agencies that can support in this area.
Changing Lives is a nationwide charity helping people facing the most challenging circumstances to make positive change — for good. We believe everyone deserves a safe home, a rewarding job, and a life free from addiction or abuse. We know that with the right support, anyone can change their life for the better.
Our services across the country assist thousands each year facing challenges such as homelessness, addiction, unemployment, involvement with the criminal justice system, sexual exploitation, and domestic abuse. By focusing on strengths, potential, and opportunities, we support individuals to overcome their problems and lead safe, independent lives. Our charity is powered by over 600 passionate colleagues in a diverse and inclusive environment, many with lived experience of the challenges faced by those we support. We seek committed and compassionate professionals to join our team, sharing our enthusiasm for changing lives.
About the Service - Housing & Homelessness Services
A safe home is the foundation for building a better life. We support those experiencing homelessness or at risk, providing specialist accommodation and outreach services for rough sleepers, veterans, survivors of domestic abuse, women, and young people. To us, accommodation isn't just about shelter but creating a welcoming environment where individuals feel comfortable and can develop. Join us and make a difference in supporting people on their journey towards a brighter future. At Changing Lives, we offer a home, not just a shelter.
