We're seeking a strategic and commercially minded Head of Accounts Receivable & Customer Finance to lead our billing operations and client financial experience across Meetings & Events, Accommodation, and Travel. This is a pivotal leadership role where you'll take full ownership of our Client Master Data and end-to-end billing processes, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and exceptional service delivery.
You'll be instrumental in driving operational efficiency, improving cashflow, and transforming the customer journey — all while leading and developing a high-performing team. Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
* Lead a team of 7 direct reports and oversee a total of 50 staff within the Billing function.
* Own the full billing cycle, ensuring timely, accurate invoicing and reconciliation of supplier payments.
* Implement and monitor SLAs and KPIs to improve DSO and positively impact company cashflow.
* Act as Product Owner for billing systems, managing the development backlog and driving system enhancements.
* Partner with Business Systems and external vendors to identify and implement process improvements.
* Resolve escalated billing queries and complaints from high-risk customers with professionalism and care.
* Ensure suppliers receive accurate payment information and billable costs are tracked and recovered.
* Collaborate with internal teams to align supplier relationships and enhance the end-to-end billing experience.
* Contribute to cross-functional projects that impact or enhance the billing function.
People Management
* Coach, support, and develop team members to maximise individual and team performance.
* Conduct regular 1:1s and performance reviews, ensuring all team members have clear goals and development plans.
* Foster a customer-focused, inclusive, and high-achieving team culture.
* Champion wellbeing and mental health, creating a safe and supportive environment.
* Lead with authenticity and integrity, modelling our values and guiding principles.
Compliance & Governance
* Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards including GDPR, ISO, PCI DSS, and Anti-Bribery.
* Safeguard client and colleague data, and support ESG principles in daily operations.
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven success in leading large transactional teams, ideally within a shared service or complex operational environment.
* Extensive expertise in Accounts Receivable and billing operations.
* Strong customer-centric mindset with a focus on service excellence and issue resolution.
* Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills across all levels.
* Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, gained through hands-on practice and/or formal qualifications.
