Job summary
Are you passionate about step 2 evidence-based psychological therapies for people with common mental health problems such as depression and anxiety disorders? Do you want to work in an innovative, dynamic Talking Therapy (formerly IAPT Service) setting? This role involves delivering therapies in various modalities, including telephone, face-to-face, and online, both individually and in groups.
We currently have a vacancy for a suitably qualified PWP based at our Whitby office to cover maternity leave. Please note that applicants must hold the Certificate for Low Intensity Interventions from an accredited provider. Eligibility to register with BABCP is also expected.
The North Yorkshire Talking Therapies Service is known for its innovative approaches, especially with perinatal women, vulnerable veterans, and older adults. The service emphasizes staff wellbeing, continuous professional development, and clinical supervision to support career growth. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a beautiful part of the country, covering Scarborough, Whitby, Ryedale, and surrounding areas.
Main duties of the job
The NHS Talking Therapies Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner will deliver high-quality, evidence-based interventions, balancing assessment duties with managing a clinical caseload. Responsibilities include delivering Guided Self-Help, Psychoeducation Courses, and Computerised programmes.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* PWP qualification from a British Psychological Society accredited programme or apprenticeship
* For apprenticeship route, successful completion of the end-point assessment
* Accreditation with BABCP or BPS as a PWP (or within six months of qualifying)
* Strong literacy, numeracy, and IT skills
* Core profession in mental health nursing, social work, occupational therapy, or psychology
Experience
* Experience working with individuals with common mental health problems in an IAPT setting
* Ability to deliver a full range of evidence-based low-intensity interventions
* Experience in screening, assessment, and working with mental health issues at step 2
* Experience managing risk and working with substance use issues
* Experience in partnership working and achieving clinical targets
Skills
* Knowledge of NICE guidelines for Step 2 interventions
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including telephone skills
* Ability to build therapeutic relationships with clients
* Understanding of work-related issues affecting mental health
* Knowledge of medications used in anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions
Registration
* Applying for or holding accreditation with BABCP or BPS
