Are you interested in joining the number one University in Greater Manchester for student experience?
At the University of Bolton, we pride ourselves on our growing reputation as a student-focused institution. Our strategy of “Teaching Intensive, Research Informed, Assessment Enabled learning” reflects our commitment to providing the best experience for our students. We are seeking a Mental Health Advisor to join the Student Services & Experience Directorate to deliver mental health support and conduct assessments within the Student Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, the Life Lounge.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
1. Manage a caseload of students with complex, rapid, and unpredictable mental health needs, utilizing evidence-based interventions for a wide range of difficulties. The role involves working with cases including self-harm, suicidal ideation, or suicide attempts.
2. Manage risks to self and others, especially when external mental health professional support is unavailable.
3. Collaborate with academic schools and student-facing services to develop strategies that promote a positive student experience and enhance attainment and progression for students with mental health challenges.
4. Conduct mental health assessments and develop safety plans for students.
5. Fulfill the role of Senior Designated Safeguarding Champion; full training will be provided.
6. Establish strong links with NHS and other external organizations, playing a key role in coordinating support networks and sharing concerns with GPs and statutory services when appropriate.
We ask a lot from our staff, but in return, you will receive a competitive benefits package, including access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, an employee benefits scheme, and generous annual leave entitlement. As a small university, we offer opportunities to collaborate across campus to support and deliver an exceptional student experience.
