THE OPPORTUNITY
This is an interesting and exciting opportunity for an experienced Finance professional. The role involves managing a team of partially qualified accountants, producing accurate management information, and supporting the MD and SMT in executing the business vision.
The Portfolio includes four companies, trusts, an LLP, and charities, with a combined turnover of circa £9M and a capital value of circa £220M. The business focuses on property investments, including industrial, commercial, residential, and rural assets, with development opportunities and a farming enterprise.
The role requires a strong focus on cost control and detail to maximize net profit, supporting asset acquisitions and development projects financed through secured lending and reinvested profits.
The MD relies on this role for financial analysis and reporting to support the investment strategy, with an SMT comprising experts in property, land management, construction, and farming sectors.
The current financial processes are under review to improve efficiency. Developing the finance team of 3 further members will enable this role to better support the MD and SMT.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Financial management, reporting, analysis, and decision-making, including management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and statutory accounts.
* Partner, trust, and beneficiary accountancy for trust entities and LLP.
* Budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and KPI development across the business sectors.
* Financial system improvements, focusing on Xero and Futrli.
Tax
* Work with tax advisors to ensure compliance and tax mitigation.
* Manage HMRC interactions, VAT, and capital gains tax returns.
Treasury
* Manage treasury strategy, loan origination, negotiations, and cash management.
* Report on loan covenants and capital costs.
Payroll & Pensions
* Oversee payroll administration and pension contributions.
Team Management and Leadership
* Develop the finance team, maintain roles & responsibilities, and participate in business planning.
* Report to MD, Board, and Trustees, and manage finance documentation.
Governance
* Act as Company Secretary, ensure compliance, and maintain internal controls.
External Relationships
* Maintain relationships with banks, lenders, and advisors, negotiating fees and managing accounts.
Candidate Profile
* Qualified Accountant with senior finance experience.
* Experience in small owner-managed businesses, possibly landed estates or family offices.
* Leadership skills, organizational ability, and a practical mindset.
