Were looking for a friendly and organised receptionist to join our busy GP practice. Youll be the first point of contact for patients, handling phone and front desk enquiries with professionalism and care. Youll help maintain a welcoming office environment and provide vital administrative support to our clinical team, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. You will utilise your skills to care navigate our patients to the best health professional and location for their presenting issue, working closely with our clinical team in the process. The role also entails administrative functions like registering patients, organising recall for clinics and clinical coding. Previous GP practice experience is desirable, but not essential and training will be given to any new-starter.

This role is for 37.5 hours per week, working until 6.30pm on a Friday.
Overtime available for covering holiday and sickness absence.
Salary start at £12.90 per hour, with a pay review on completion of probationary period.

Main duties of the job

Job responsibilities
The hours for this role is 37.5 and the working pattern will be Monday to Wednesday 8.30am-5pm, Thursday 8.30am-3.30pm and Friday 8.30am-6.30pm.
Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice
Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments
Using your own judgement and communication skills ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner
Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed
Process repeat prescriptions requests and ensure that they are ready for collection by the patient within 24 hours, either on the computer or manually
Enter patient information on the computer including all scanning of correspondence and sending to the clinical team for filing and coding
Make and serve refreshments, ensure the kitchen is kept clean and tidy, ensure the waiting room is tidy in turn with other staff
Ensure all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately
Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Partners, Practice Manager or Operations Manager.
