About our opportunity We’re looking for a Mechanical MultiSkilled Fitter to join our mining maintenance team across sites in Central Cornwall. This is a practical, outdoor role focused on maintaining and improving large fixedplant mining equipment, including large scale conveyors, pumps, screens and steel structures. You’ll be involved in planned, preventive and reactive maintenance, as well as supporting installations and process improvement projects. Working as part of a small, closeknit team, you’ll play an important part in ensuring assets operate safely, reliably and in line with Imerys health, safety, environmental and quality standards. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys handson work, faultfinding across disciplines and working in a challenging outdoor environment. What you’ll be doing Maintenance & fault finding Carrying out corrective, breakdown and preventive maintenance on mining fixed plant Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical faults, with electrical and instrumentation exposure Working on largescale conveyors, pumping systems and processing equipment Installations & improvements Supporting the installation of new equipment Assisting with process modifications and improvement projects Providing engineering support across site maintenance activities Safety, quality & compliance Working in line with Imerys Safe Working Rules, procedures and Local Management Rules Maintaining compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards Applying strong HSE and Quarry / Mining regulations awareness Ensuring work areas remain clean, safe and hazard free Teamworking & site environment Working outdoors in an industrial mining environment Collaborating with engineering, maintenance and operational teams Carrying out work at height and occasional confined space activities What good looks like This role will suit someone who: Is comfortable working outdoors in physically demanding environments Takes ownership of safety and compliance Approaches problems practically and methodically Works well within a small, closeknit team Is resilient, reliable and open to learning and feedback What you’ll bring Essential Mechanical fitting experience in mining, quarrying or heavy industrial environments NVQ Level 3 in Multiskilled Engineering (or willingness to achieve) Knowledge of conveyors, pumps and processing equipment Strong health, safety and environmental awareness Be allowed to drive in UK Desirable Welding experience (MMA / MIG) Experience working with large steel structures Background in aggregates, quarrying or heavy manufacturing Why Imerys?
