Were looking for a Behaviour Intervention Assistant to join a dedicated team in a Primary school, supporting pupils who need a consistent, understanding approach to help them regulate and succeed.
About the Role
Youll working closely with pupils who may display challenging behaviour due to social, emotional, or mental health needs.
Responsibilities
* Providing 1:1 and small‑group support to help pupils manage emotions and develop positive coping strategies.
* Supporting children who may exhibit physically challenging behaviour, including biting, hitting, or spitting.
* Using positive behaviour support and de‑escalation strategies at all times.
* Safely using approved restraint or physical intervention techniques when necessary to ensure the safety of all pupils and staff.
* Working as part of a skilled, supportive team to promote progress, wellbeing, and confidence.
About You
* Patient, calm, and confident when managing challenging situations.
* Experienced in working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs (school, care, or youth work background).
* Trained in or open to training in physical intervention (Team Teach, PRICE, MAPA, or similar).
* Emotionally resilient, with a genuine commitment to supporting children with complex needs.
* A positive role model who believes in restorative approaches and building trust through consistency.

This is a Primary school that provides specialist support for pupils with significant emotional and behavioural challenges. The staff team are highly skilled, welcoming, and committed to creating a safe, structured, and caring environment where every child can make progress in their own way.
