We seek a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary Teacher who will actively contribute to the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development of our pupils, upholding the school’s mission and ethos.
The Primary Teacher will be responsible for the planning, teaching, and assessment of a class of pupils across the full primary curriculum, ensuring high levels of progress, attainment, and well-being for all children. The role requires commitment to maintaining a stimulating, safe, and positive learning environment that reflects the school's Catholic identity.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
1. Teaching and Learning
* Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective lessons across all subjects of the UK Primary National Curriculum, adapting teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils.
* Be responsible for the educational, social, and emotional progress of the assigned class, setting high expectations that inspire and challenge all pupils.
* Assess, monitor, record, and report on pupils' progress and achievements, making accurate use of assessment data to inform future planning and target setting.
* Organise and manage the classroom environment and resources, creating a safe, stimulating, and inclusive space for learning.
* Use a variety of teaching methods, including active and collaborative learning approaches, to motivate and engage pupils.
2. Catholic Ethos and Community
* Actively uphold and promote the Catholic ethos and values of Holy Cross Catholic Primary School in all aspects of school life.
* Plan and lead collective worship/assemblies as required, contributing to the spiritual life of the school.
* Develop positive and constructive relationships with pupils, parents, colleagues, and the wider parish community.
* Provide regular feedback to parents/carers on a pupil's progress and well-being, including attendance at Parents' Evenings and other school events.
3. Professional Development and Safeguarding
* Take responsibility for promoting and ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of all children, adhering strictly to school and national child protection policies.
* Effectively manage pupil behaviour in line with the school’s policy, promoting self-control and independence.
* Actively participate in the school's performance management, continuing professional development (CPD), and school improvement activities.
* Liaise with colleagues, support staff (e.g., Teaching Assistants), and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for pupils, particularly those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Essential Criteria
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* Proven experience of teaching within a UK Primary School setting.
* Excellent knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum and effective teaching and assessment strategies.
* Ability to differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND and high-achieving pupils.
* A clear understanding of and a commitment to supporting the Catholic ethos of the school.
* A passion for teaching and the ability to inspire, motivate, and challenge young learners.
* Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Criteria
* A Catholic actively practising their faith.
* Experience of leading or coordinating a specific curriculum subject area.
* Experience in a school within a Multi-Academy Trust.
