Job Purpose
The Head of Technology is responsible for leading and empowering the IT team to deliver high-performing, secure, and resilient technology services across Milestones. This role oversees the strategic and day-to-day management of IT operations, infrastructure, and systems, with a strong focus on cybersecurity and information security. The post holder will ensure that all technology solutions and practices align with the Trust's strategic objectives, support operational excellence, and safeguard digital assets. By fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement, the role enables the organisation to operate efficiently and securely within defined budgetary and quality parameters.
Person Specification
* Degree in IT (or equivalent) with proven IT operations leadership experience
* Strong knowledge of IT architecture: networks, servers, databases (SQL), applications, virtualisation, and cloud (Microsoft 365 / Azure)
* Hands-on technical background with ability to lead IT teams and manage vendor relationships
* Experience across both on-premise and cloud systems, Microsoft and Apple environments, and secure remote access (VPN, wireless, IP telephony)
* Proficiency in network management (DHCP, DNS, firewalls) and familiarity with Cyber Essentials standards
* Project management experience with PRINCE2 (or equivalent) and tools such as Smartsheets/MS Project
* Experience in app development/maintenance and systems integration across multiple organisations
* Strong financial, budget management, and commercial skills
* Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills, with experience establishing IT governance frameworks
