An opportunity has arisen for THREE Permanent Band 5 Posts: 2 x 37.5 hours, 1 x 23 hours, who has an active NMC registration to join the Endoscopy team in our purpose-built unit. We are looking for a nurse to join our friendly and progressive team, who has endoscopy experience and/or a minimum of one year’s experience working in an adult/acute environment with an interest in developing in endoscopy.
Endoscopy Unit
The Endoscopy Unit is JAG accredited, delivering an endoscopy service which works flexibly to cover a 7-day service, including evenings and weekend working. This busy department provides care for inpatients and outpatients having a range of endoscopic procedures, including upper and lower GI endoscopies, ERCP, bronchoscopy and thoracoscopy. Assessment of patients is provided by the Endoscopy Pre-Assessment team prior to patients attending on-day for their procedure, where nurse-led consent is obtained. Plans to develop this service include patients completing an online self-assessment. Work is also underway to introduce a Transnasal Endoscopy (TNE) Service at the local Community Diagnostic Centre, which will enhance local access to minimally invasive diagnostic procedures for upper gastrointestinal conditions, reducing reliance on hospital-based services and improving patient experience.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of the Endoscopy team, delivering care and treatments to patients and their families throughout their endoscopy journey.
* Support all areas of the patient pathway and, following appropriate training and development, support the pre-assessment service nurse-led consent and coordination of patient flow through the department from admission to discharge, including inpatient activity.
* Cover the out-of-hours on-call service for emergencies as required.
Qualifications and Skills
* Registered nurse with active NMC registration.
* Endoscopy experience and/or a minimum of one year’s experience working in an adult/acute environment with an interest in developing in endoscopy.
