Description LGV Team Manager - Dordon near Tamworth Main responsibilities: People Management To manage the LGV team in line with a company policy, procedures, and legislative requirements. To effectively manage the LGV team in a professional manner, in line with a company policy, procedures, and legislative requirements. To provide effective feedback to employees as and when required. Work with the Recruitment Team to undertake recruitment of new employees, and support the team, to minimise employee churn and ensure all processes are followed for leavers. Work with the Training Team to help train and integrate new employees, and ensure that any remedial training of employees is undertaken so that they can comply with a H&S, and training recruitments. Ensure that site events and forums are completed and communication with outside providers for these are undertaken Engage with the on-site team, to build and promote a positive working environment and positive culture at the site, which will improve morale, and minimise employee churn, and promote excellence within the LGV team. To carry out driver and vehicle tachograph analysis, including cross-checking against run sheets. To manage LGV drivers hours in line with EU Drivers Hours Regulation and Working Time Directive (Road Transport) Regulations Monitor, manage and record LGV driver tachograph infringements, including the recording, issuing and carrying out of meetings Controlling and managing agency staff including approved and non-approved drivers To monitor and check LGV drivers licences in line with company policy and transport legislation Day to day Management of the LGV Shift Supervisors Ensure driving standards, and risk reduction schemes are implemented and targets are achieved (including Samsara and incentive schemes) Shift Management To effectively manage the LGV team thus ensuring a loads dispatched and completed in a timely manner, support the operation to exceed the customer’s expectations. Dispatch and allocate drivers accurately using the Driver’s Summary, carrying out a full brief and debrief process To evaluate the plan and to make adjustments throughout the shift to make best use of the fleet and the LGV drivers duty time Ensure the fleet is allocated and utilised in the most efficient and cost effective manner. Issue site packs for a runs and ensure the relevant information is correct and escalate if not To manage vehicle breakdowns via Ocado process to minimise impacts to customers Feedback to the Planning Team, to ensure drivers, vehicles and runs are planned in the most cost-effective and efficient manner. Oversee yard operations and Shunting teams. To carry out a relevant on site inspections such as WPI, Yard Observations, Gatehouse checks, etc Responsibility for the Transport department in the absence of more senior management Review KPIs for the site, to ensure that site targets are met, and anomalies are investigated and remedial actions are undertaken as appropriate Fleet Management To effectively manage the LGV Fleet in line with company policy, and legislative requirements. Effectively manage VOR vehicles in a legal and compliant manner to minimise business disruption To proactively manage the vehicle loads and weights, taking into account any backhauls that may be scheduled later in a run. To carry out driver and vehicle tachograph analysis, including cross-checking against run sheets. To manage the LGV defect process in line with company policy To manage approved fleet contracts and service providers in line with policy and legislation To ensure all fleet technology on our vehicles is working and legislative requirements. It will be necessary for you to access LGV vehicle cabs and trailers as part of your role. Ensure all VOR vehicles are isolated via key control or yard isolation Health And Safety The undertaking and completion of the relevant training for a equipment used, and tasks undertaken Be responsible for their own safety and must not do anything which is likely to cause injury or risks to health and safety of other persons Observe all site safety rules at a times When using substances in the course of their work use, handle and store them in the prescribed manner Wear and use appropriate safety clothing and equipment when required Act on a reasonable instructions given by persons responsible for health and safety matters Report all accidents, which may or may not involve injury to person or damage to property or equipment, immediately to their line manager Report all potential hazards to their line manager and use the hazard reporting system This role description is a summary of the typical functions of the role, not an exhaustive or comprehensive list of possible role responsibilities, tasks and duties Skills, Experience and Qualification Minimum Management of people in teams External internal and external customer services skis.
