The PIER (Psychosis Intervention Early Recovery) team serves Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland for ages 14–65 years. As the name suggests, the team supports individuals experiencing their first episode of psychosis. Psychosis can be distressing for those who experience it, as well as for those who support them. The team provides intensive support to service users and their families/carers for up to 3 years.
Senior Healthcare Assistants support registered practitioners to deliver high-quality, compassionate health care to people. The principal role is to assist the multidisciplinary team in the provision and delivery of patient care in line with an individualised care plan under close but not direct supervision of registered practitioners.

Responsibilities
* STR worker – support a group of service users usually between 10 and 15 at any one time; lead on various group and one-to-one activities; be encouraged to gain qualifications in taking ECGs and Venipuncture and practice these skills as part of the team’s physical health clinics.
* Senior Healthcare Assistant – provide personal and clinical care, undertake clinical observations and other clinical/therapeutic interventions as delegated by the registered practitioner and in accordance with existing competencies; support the multidisciplinary team in line with established policies and guidelines; supervise or guide other staff as appropriate; work within the scope of the role and demonstrate self-directed development.
* Ensure practice is guided by standard operating procedures and policies; uphold privacy, dignity, respect and confidentiality for patients and colleagues; act as a role model and contribute to a positive team environment.
* Collaborate with Medical, Psychological Therapies, Psychology, other support staff, admin and Care Coordinators; link with other NHS services, statutory services, and the voluntary sector.
