Up to £41,512 per annum (national pay award pending) CNC provides the building control functions for the Local Authority areas of South Norfolk, King's Lynn and West Norfolk, Fenland, Norwich City and Broadland. Building Control is a statutory requirement on the vast majority of building projects (including internal alterations and conversion works) irrespective of whether planning permission has been required or not. We are looking for a proactive and confident Customer Relationship Officer to join our team and play a key role in strengthening client partnerships, boosting satisfaction and retention and supporting the future success of our services. Working at the heart of our client engagement strategy, you will act as a key point of contact for customers, understanding their needs and ensuring a smooth, responsive and high-quality service. You will work closely with the Service Manager, surveyors and our business support team to coordinate customer communications, gather insights and identify opportunities for improvement. This is a highly interactive role and would be suited to someone who enjoys being out in front of customers and representing the organisation. What You'll Be Doing Building and nurturing strong relationships with clients to increase satisfaction, loyalty and repeat business Researching market trends and competitor activity to support strategic decision‑making Preparing tailored quotations and reviewing previous quotes to inform future proposals Working with the corporate marketing team to design and deliver customer relationship plans aligned with CNC objectives Representing CNC at industry events, meetings and networking opportunities Coordinating internal teams to resolve issues, gather customer feedback and enhance service delivery Maintaining accurate records of interactions, opportunities and performance metrics Supporting colleagues to develop commercial awareness and improve customer outcomes Ensuring compliance with Council processes relating to finance, performance, HR, governance, H&S, data protection and equalitiesAbout You We are looking for someone who is confident in engaging with customers at all levels, commercially aware, and ready to make an impact. You will need a level 6 qualification in a relevant marketing or construction-related field, or equivalent experience within a commercial sales and marketing environment. You will bring strong communication and negotiation skills, hold a full UK driving licence and demonstrate excellent organisational and time-management abilities. The role also requires someone who can work under pressure, adapt quickly and meet tight deadlines, with a target-driven mindset and a proactive, flexible approach.
