We are delighted to be able to offer a committed and experienced Nurse, who will provide clear leadership within the multi‑disciplinary team and provide line management support to identified staff, joining our team of Clinical Services Coordinators within our friendly and forward thinking children’s community Neurodevelopmental Team.

You will work closely with our AHP and Nursing service leads to ensure our teams are able to provide a safe and effective Autism Assessment Service for our Children, Young People and their families. You will also work closely with the Operational Manager, ensuring efficient delivery of assessments for children and young people. You will be expected to liaise with the wider system across health, education and social care to offer the best possible support to families of children with suspected ASD/ADHD/neurodevelopmental needs. To make effective use of our virtual and mobile working technology and IT systems, you will also have good IT skills.


Main duties of the job

* To work with the Service Leads for NDP to ensure that services provided meet local and national standards applicable to the work undertaken within the centre.
* To support the Service Leads for NDP in developing positive and effective relationships and partnership working with early years settings and providers across all agencies/sectors in the area in which the CDC is located, promoting inclusive practice to the benefit of disabled children.
* Where there are centre managers in place, work with the Centre Manager to ensure that services provided are delivered in an integrated way, within available resources and according to clinical and service priorities of the Children and Families Division.
* To deputise for the Service Leads for NDP on an infrequent basis, if required.


Job responsibilities

* Co‑ordinate the activities of the multi‑disciplinary/multi‑agency team, including allied health professionals, education staff and other agencies involved in the assessment of children referred to the CDC.
* Ensure that parent/carer involvement, engagement and participation is at the core of all activities planned and undertaken.
* Co‑ordinate and oversee the organisation of clinics, groups, assessments and reviews, ensuring that they are delivered in an efficient, effective and inclusive manner, following agreed CDC guidelines and processes.
* Liaise with health care professionals and colleagues from other agencies to ensure children attending the centre receive the optimum care and appropriate goals and outcomes are set for that care.
* Provide clinical advice and safeguarding advice appropriate to the role/professional background of the post holder, linking in with other staff, e.g. Safeguarding leads, Health Visitors and other key managers.
* Provide support and guidance to centre staff and other agencies where issues arise regarding the medical and developmental needs of children attending the centre. This may include social, domestic and child protection issues, ensuring appropriate referrals are made in line with relevant Child Protection Policies.
* Chair CDC reviews as and when required to communicate the outcome of assessments/intervention groups, ensuring reports are completed in a timely fashion for these reviews and the appropriate use of interpreters for families where English may not be the first language.


Person Specification


Qualifications / training

* Relevant nursing qualification and registration (RSCN, Health Visiting, Learning Disabilities, Midwifery).
* Evidence of continuous professional development relevant to this area of work.


Experience

* Extensive experience of working in relevant children’s services, including working with children with additional health needs/disabilities.
* Extensive experience of co‑ordination of staff and/or caseloads.
* Experience and knowledge of managing staff.
* Knowledge of relevant HR policies.
* Engagement of people who are socially excluded, disabled or disadvantaged, including seeking and responding to feedback/complaints.
* Experience of managing/supporting change in the work environment.


Skills/knowledge

* Understanding of Equality and Diversity.
* Experience of multi‑disciplinary team working.
* Good understanding of the local and national perspective and strategy for the NHS and related areas of health and children’s services, particularly those pertinent to children with disabilities.
* Understanding of the goals and vision of the Division.
* Knowledge of the principles of governance and performance management, including financial management.
* Evidence of application of the appropriate codes of conduct and scope and standards of professional practice for the individual's clinical background.
* Sound knowledge of safeguarding issues and practice and evidence of up‑to‑date training in this area.
* Evidence of leadership skills.
* Ability to work effectively in teams and with other professions/agencies.
* Excellent and adaptable communication skills.
* Ability to be flexible and responsive in times of change.


Other job requirements

* Ability to generate written communication which is relevant, concise and accurate.

£49,387 to £56,515 a year per annum (pro rata)
