We are seeking an experienced full-time Consultant Psychiatrist who will work at Cygnet Hospital Bury and provide senior medical cover on Madison Ward, our 13-bedded Male Medium Secure Personality Disorder Service.
We are offering a £5,000 welcome bonus for this role!
The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician, overseeing and maintaining the care of all ward inpatients as required. They will also have responsibility for auditing the medical services rendered at the ward, ensuring their quality in accordance with GMC standards and other professional guidelines.
Madison Ward is a 13-bedded medium secure personality disorder ward for men. The service provides care for men with enduring mental health needs, co-morbidity, and challenging behaviors in a calm, therapeutic environment, focusing on service user experience, shared care, and safety.
In this role, your expertise will drive life-changing treatment, supported by a Specialty Doctor and a multidisciplinary team including qualified nurses, psychologists, and occupational therapists.

Main duties and Responsibilities
* Lead on the provision of high-quality care to service users admitted to Madison Ward
* Act as a positive role model, maintaining a positive attitude towards patients, their families, visitors, and staff
* Take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
* Assess referrals and undertake mental state examinations of service users
* Conduct investigations, diagnoses, and treatments as appropriate
* Perform ward rounds, patient reviews, and clinical audits
* Lead risk assessment, risk management, and embed clinical governance within the service
* Supervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals and attend hearings
* Liaise with the Ministry of Justice regarding patient transfers and leave approvals
* Maintain accurate patient records
* Ensure regular communication with the Site Medical Director and Hospital Manager
* Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, staff, and other stakeholders, maintaining proper reports
* Participate in academic meetings and adhere to professional standards for CPD as set by GMC, DoH, and the Royal College of Psychiatrists
* Contribute to the telephone on-call rota (1 in 13 weekdays / 1 in 15 weekends)
