This role is open to hybrid working. As a team we split our time between working from home and collaborating together in the office, for a minimum of two days per week. We also aim for visits to schools and settings to take place on a regular basis, as we continue to build upon our collaborative working with schools.

About the Role

We encourage our SEND Services to work closely and collaboratively in affecting timely and purposeful casework that ensures the best possible outcomes for vulnerable children and young people. Relational and restorative working practices will underpin all our practice with stakeholders, partners, clients and customers.
You will work alongside the Area SEND Manager and other EHCP Coordination Managers to manage a busy area SEND team which is primarily focussed on the statutory annual review process. You will directly line manage a sub team of EHCP Coordination Officers, drawing on your knowledge of SEND and related legislation to advise on a range of complex casework. You will ensure that service delivery meets performance targets and that resources are used efficiently and effectively.
Using your experience of collaboration, you will work with colleagues, managers, schools and external agencies to ensure that the special educational needs of children with EHCPs are appropriately met. Bringing a strong customer focus to the team, you will ensure that parents, carers, children and young people are made fully aware of their rights to contribute to SEND processes.
As our EHCP Coordination Manager, you will be involved in the following key areas of responsibility:
Statutory aspects of Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs), EHCP writing, annual review management and securing special educational provision and placements
Promoting and ensuring your team's proactive communications with customers
Direct line management of EHCP Coordination Officers and a SEND Officer
Providing advice on a range of casework through solution-focused approaches
Attending multi-agency discussion meetings
Using performance data to report progress
This is a challenging role but, by working in close collaboration with children's Social Care, Health, parents/carers and families, as well as schools, your impact will help us to achieve the best outcomes for the children we support.
Shortlisting Criteria
To be considered for shortlisting, your CV and personal statement will need to clearly evidence the following:
Detailed knowledge of SEN legislative framework and policy, with experience of SEN casework and statutory processes
Highly developed written skills, particularly in relation to report and letter writing, with the ability to summarise complex information
Excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to develop effective and collaborative working relationships
Proven track record of managing a range of responsibilities and co-ordinating service delivery in a multi-disciplinary environment, with excellent advocacy, time management and organisational skills
Competence in a range of IT tools including MS Office and database management systems
The role involves working in, and visiting, venues across the locality to build professional working relationships, therefore you will need to be willing and able to travel across the county as required.
