We are looking for an experienced Health Care Assistant to work with us at our lovely practice for 3 days per. The HCA will support the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of quality health and care services. We require the HCA to work on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays - start and finish times are to be discussed further at interview.
This post is for a HCA working in Primary care — not an nursing home or hospital environment, requiring a very different skill set. Please read the job description to ensure that you have the correct skill level for the post.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate must be able to display a basic level of computer literacy including the ability to use emails. Be accurate and contemporaneous recordkeeping of all patient contact using appropriate templates and read coding, including recording QOF data. NVQ level 2 in health & social care is an essential qualification for the post. EMIS knowledge is not essential but is preferable.

We are an exceptionally friendly and supportive practice with high rates of staff retention. Our patient list size is circa 13500 and we employ 30 personnel.
The practice team is made up of five Partners, three Salaried GPs, one ARRS GP, two Retainer GPs, two practice nurses, 2 HCAs, 1 GPA, management team and admin staff. We are a training practice and regularly have a Registrar and medical students.
Wimbledon Village Surgery is a purpose-built medical center in the heart of the community of Wimbledon Village and situated close to Wimbledon Common and the Wimbledon tennis club. Onsite parking is available
We have a good CQC rating and are part of North West Merton PCN and enjoy working closely with them in our locality. We have a PCN Pharmacy team, Social Prescribers, Physiotherapists and a Mental Health Practitioner
Job responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities:
* Undertake, record and follow guidelines for the tasks for which you have received appropriate training.
* Phlebotomy skills including near patient testing for INR, blood glucose and cholesterol.
* Processing of patient samples for dispatch to hospital laboratories. This will include body fluids such as urine, faeces and sputum. This will also include urinalysis and the reporting of results to a registered clinician.
* Measuring and recording patient blood pressure. Reporting any measurement outside of the norm to the appropriate clinician.
* Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions. Ensure clinical treatment rooms are clean and well stocked. Stock ordering may be expected. Comply with national standards for healthcare cleanliness.
* Long term condition monitoring and NHS Health check screening.
* Have a basic level of computer literacy including the ability to use emails.
* Accurate and contemporaneous record keeping of all patient contact using appropriate templates and read coding, including recording QOF data and patient self-care advice.
* Notifying the GP/ nurse of any significant patient issues.
* Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team.
* Act as a Chaperone when requested.
