We have a fantastic opportunity for Swimming Teachers to join our team at Kingsbury Leisure Centre. We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic, experienced and well-organised Swimming Teachers who can support primary school lessons and private swimming lessons, with abilities ranging from beginners through to advanced. We are a top provider of school swimming provision and currently have 20 schools booked in with us for this academic year. We have 350 children in our private swimming lessons, with plans to expand our lessons when we reopen after our refurbishment. At Kingsbury Leisure Centre we run our own scheme of lessons, which has successfully been in place for over twenty years. We assess and award children using Swim England distance badges and water skills badges. Previous knowledge of these badges is not essential, as we will train you to follow our individual scheme. In addition to delivering swimming lessons, you will be responsible for planning, setting up/preparation, keeping equipment tidy during and after your lessons, admin of registers, assessing for badges and communicating with parents/carers. Good communication skills with learners, parents/carers and schoolteachers is essential. You should be an independent swimming teacher who can also take direction. Teamwork with other swimming teachers and also lifeguards is required. Knowledge of safe working practices within a swimming pool is desired. You must have a current NRASTC to perform the swimming teacher role at Kingsbury Leisure Centre. NRASTC must be renewed to the necessary timeframe. Failure to renew will result in termination of employment as a swimming teacher. Occasionally swimming teachers will be asked to join the full staff meeting, which is part of the leisure centre monthly training. You will not be required to attend the whole session and take part in NPLQ training. However, it does create a positive working environment and a strong team ethos for all staff who work together to meet and have group discussions periodically. We offer a higher rate of pay for swimming teachers who hold their NPLQ and are prepared to accept lifeguard responsibilities whilst they are teaching.
