Construction Manager – Early Works (Carbon Capture Project)
Location: Mold, North Wales
Rate: £60–£75 PAYE per hour (PAYE) + holiday pay (inside IR35)
Hours: 40 hours/week (Onsite, Monday–Friday)
Duration: 12 months+
Description
We are recruiting for an experienced Construction Manager to support the delivery of a new-build Carbon Capture facility on behalf of a leading Engineering Consultancy / EPC Contractor.
This role focuses on managing the early works programme, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution in line with project requirements and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead implementation of project HSE policies and Construction HSE Management Plan
Ensure safe, structured, and efficient delivery of construction activities aligned with the project schedule
Manage mobilisation and demobilisation of resources
Verify workforce competency and compliance with T&C requirements
Conduct audits and reviews of construction processes, implementing improvements where required
Ensure full compliance with Management of Change (MOC) procedures
Support execution planning, including risk mitigation and gate readiness
Review contractor QA/QC and inspection plans
Monitor inspection and hold points, ensuring technical compliance with drawings and specifications
Identify and close out non-conformances
Contribute to planning schedules and validate contractor progress reports
Engage in commercial and contractual discussions where requiredEssential Requirements
HNC (or equivalent) in Engineering or a relevant Trade Apprenticeship with technical qualification
ECITB Temporary Works certification (or equivalent)
CSCS Gold Card (or higher) + valid SMSTS
Minimum 15 years’ experience in Engineering Construction Management
Strong knowledge of construction practices, procedures, and project management systems
Working knowledge of UK safety legislation, including:
CDM Regulations
Permits to Work
Method Statements
COSHH
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of independent workingDesirable Experience
Experience on large-scale onshore EPC/EPCM projects
Strong HSSE leadership with an “Incident Free” mindset
Ability to manage multi-discipline and multicultural teams
Experience integrating construction through to commissioning and handover
Proven ability to resolve issues collaboratively across project teams
