Quality Assurance Officer (QCRM Officer)
Location: Histon, Cambridgeshire
About the Role & About Us
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Officer to join our Technical team at our Histon site.
This role is essential in ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, legality, and consistency.
You will provide hands-on technical support to Operations, monitor compliance across the manufacturing process, and play a key role in maintaining and improving our food safety and quality culture.

Key Responsibilities
Quality, Safety & Compliance
1. Ensure compliance with food safety legislation, retailer standards, and internal policies
2. Monitor manufacturing processes from raw material intake through to dispatch
3. Identify, investigate, and escalate quality, safety, and compliance issues
4. Lead and participate in product and raw material taste panels
5. Support complaint, incident, and spoilage investigations
6. Promote a strong food safety and quality culture across the site
7. Maintain testing schedules with 100% adherence
Technical & Operational Support
8. Carry out product testing, material analysis, and operational checks
9. Manage Quality Attribute Sheets (QAS), SOPs, and packaging standards
10. Maintain laboratory equipment and calibration schedules
11. Support troubleshooting and continuous process improvements
12. Conduct audits and ensure GMP standards are upheld
13. Use Quality Management Systems (e.g. QUOR) for reporting and compliance tracking
Materials & Supplier Quality
14. Investigate raw material and packaging non-conformances
15. Support intake teams with delivery and quality issues
16. Lead monthly supplier performance (SAR) reviews
17. Manage stock control and non-conforming materials
Continuous Improvement
18. Support site Continuous Improvement initiatives
19. Identify root causes of recurring quality issues and implement solutions
20. Drive improvements in hygiene, efficiency, and product consistency
Communication & Collaboration
21. Work cross-functionally with Operations and wider business teams
22. Communicate findings, risks, and corrective actions clearly
23. Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
24. Support customer queries, certifications, and audits
About You
25. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
26. Self-motivated with a proactive and continuous improvement mindset
27. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
28. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
29. Understanding of food safety, quality systems, and GMP (desirable but not essential)
Experience & Qualifications
30. No formal qualifications required
31. Previous experience in food manufacturing or quality assurance is advantageous
Working Conditions
32. Based at Histon site (no regular travel required)
33. Work across all production areas as needed
34. Some manual handling involved
35. Must adhere to all Health & Safety, GMP, and operational procedures
