Multi Skilled Shift Engineer - Electrical Engineer Bias
This is a shift-based position requiring a 4 on/4 off rotation. Shifts will rotate between days and nights (for example: 2 days 07:00 - 19:00, followed by 2 nights 19:00 - 07:00, 4 days off).
Responsibilities
Responsible to a Shift Leader for undertaking electrical and mechanical works on a wide range of building services, reactive and planned maintenance throughout the London Estate. The work is undertaken on a shift basis to ensure 24-hour cover for the London Estate. All shift teams provide a balance of electrical and mechanical support across the sites. Maintain a high standard of planned preventative and reactive maintenance. Use diagnostic equipment and work from technical manuals and drawings. Identify visual plant defects, warning lights and indicators. Comprehensive understanding of building services and proficiency in maintenance of: power distribution and switching, motors controls, lighting systems, stand-by generators, electrical test procedures and certification, controls systems, inverter operation and design, and fire alarm/PA systems.
Qualifications
* City & Guilds craft certificate/ONC, etc.
* Recognised craft apprenticeship
* Training certificate to IEE 18th Edition
* Two years post-apprenticeship experience in a similar role
* Comprehensive understanding of Building Services
* C&G 2391 or equivalent desirable
* Full in-depth, intrusive security checks to be completed for successful candidate
The ideal candidate would have up-to-date training such as NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Maintenance (multi-discipline) and good knowledge of building statutory compliance. They should be able to read and understand technical drawings, have good problem-solving and decision-making skills, and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Suitable training may be provided to ensure competence.
