An exciting opportunity has arisen for anexperienced Youth Justice Service Officer to join Westmorlandand Furness Youth Justice and Prevention Service.

About the Role…
We are seeking a dedicated andcompassionate Youth Justice Service Officer to join our YouthJustice and Prevention Service. You will play a vital role insupporting children and young people who are at risk of offendingor have entered the youth justice system, helping them to makepositive changes and reduce reoffending.
What do we do?
* We work with children and young peopleon the periphery of the youth justice system to prevent themfrom becoming first time entrants.
* The team support children involved withthe Police receiving out of court disposals and childrenconvicted in Court.
* We work with children in the secureestate on remand and sentenced to custody and we areresponsible for the resettlement of young people back into thecommunity.
* The YJS also oversee services to victimsof youth crime, including restorative justiceinterventions.
* Manage a caseload of young peoplesubject to youth justice interventions, including statutoryorders and diversionary programmes.
* Undertake assessments using national andlocal frameworks to identify risks, needs, and strengths.
* Develop and implement tailoredintervention plans in collaboration with young people, theirfamilies, and partner agencies.
* Monitor progress and compliance,providing regular reviews and updates.
* Work closely with police, social care,education, health, and voluntary sector partners to ensure acoordinated approach.
* Prepare reports for court and attendhearings as required.
* Promote safeguarding and ensure allpractice is trauma-informed and culturally competent.
Who we are looking for…
* Experience working with children andyoung people in a justice, social care, or communitysetting.
* Strong understanding of youth justicelegislation, policy, and practice.
* Excellent communication, engagement, andreport-writing skills.
* Ability to work independently and aspart of a multi-agency team.
* Commitment to promoting equality,diversity, and inclusion.
You will need…
* Recognised professional qualification ordegree/diploma level qualification or equivalent in a relevantsubject area i.e. Criminal justice and or Social welfare
* The post holder must also hold theProfessional Certificate in Effective Practice (PCEP) or YouthJustice Effective Practice Certificate (YJEPC) or be preparedto complete the qualification within the first 12 months ofemployment.
