Community Trikes Volunteer – Support Inclusive Cycling at the Velodrome

Volunteer with Community Trikes at the Grassroots Trust Velodrome!
If you love a good chat, enjoy being outside, and think helping someone pedal their way to confidence sounds like a great way to spend your time — we’ve got just the role for you.

Join our Community Trikes crew — a relaxed, feel-good cycling programme for people of all ages and abilities. Our awesome trikes are designed for those who:

* Are new to cycling or getting back into it
* Live with limited mobility or a disability
* Are recovering from illness or injury
* Just want to get moving, feel good, and meet lovely people

Here’s how you’ll be part of the ride:

* Walk (or wheel!) alongside participants as they cruise around the track
* Help with set-up, helmets, and a safe riding space
* Be the cheerful voice cheering them on
* Share in those “I didn’t think I could do this!” moments

You don’t need to be a cyclist (or even particularly sporty). If you’ve got a warm attitude, some free time, and enjoy seeing others succeed, we’ll show you the ropes.

You’ll enjoy this role if you:

* Like moving around but don’t want anything too hard
* Enjoy meeting people and hearing their stories
* Want to do something good with your free time
* Like being part of a team and feeling useful
* Enjoy a good chat and a relaxed, fun atmosphere
* Want to support people to do something they didn’t think they could
Requirements:
* A friendly and patient attitude — you’ll be encouraging riders learning new skills
* Able to stand, walk, or move around for about 2-3 hours during sessions
* Willingness to learn and follow safety guidelines (training provided)
* Reliable and able to commit to scheduled shifts (flexible options available)
* Comfortable working with people of all ages and abilities
* Minimum age 16 years
* No prior cycling or volunteer experience needed!

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

* 2-3 hours during sessions
