Yarl’s Wood IRC (Immigration Removal Centre) is a fully contained residential centre housing adult women and adult family groups awaiting immigration clearance. We focus on decency and respect in all aspects of care for our residents and use continuous innovation to further improve and develop our service. Within the centre we accommodate an everchanging population from a variety of backgrounds, all with different faiths, beliefs, and cultural values.
We have some vacancies for Housekeeper's to join our current team on a full time basis.
The job holder will be working in a team dusting, sweeping, vacuuming and mopping surfaces in their work areas which includes bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms, offices, medical rooms, corridors, store rooms and various other rooms. You will be wiping down desks, tables, walls, showers, toilets, doors, skirting boards and any other hard surfaces and also vacuuming carpeted areas and treating stains. You would also be working with clean and dirty laundry, emptying and cleaning bins.
Refilling and restocking cleaning supplies and toiletries on your trolley and informing your supervisor when stocks get low. Any faulty cleaning appliance needs reporting to the supervisor. You would also be responsible for your cleaning trolley and to make sure all cleaning materials are cleaned, stored and secured in the correct manner.
You will also need to use and display all safety signs when cleaning and understand all environmental issues, health and safety procedures and laws that you will then need to comply to. You should also be able to use all the chemical and cleaning materials provided (after training), and be able to maintain all paperwork is correct and up to date.
What you need to do the job:
The ideal candidate will have good team skills and be able to work independently.
It is important that they have excellent organisational skills. The successful post holder must b able to demonstrate good spoken and written English. Additionally, they must be computer Literate.
