The opportunity
Our Indirect Tax professionals provide pragmatic commercial support, so clients improve their day-to-day management of indirect taxes. This includes advising on transactions, improving working capital, reducing errors, reducing costs and ensuring indirect taxes are handled correctly. They advise how indirect taxes such as value added tax (VAT), or goods & services tax (GST) impinge on the client’s supply chain and financial and accounting systems.
We are looking for a Manager to help us grow further our Real Estate, Hospitality and Construction VAT team.
Your key responsibilities

1. Enthusiastic manager with ability to create, support, sustain and lead effective teams
2. Ensure delivery of quality work and take day to day leadership of delivery team
3. Help people to develop through effectively supervising, coaching and mentoring staff
4. Contribute to people initiatives (including training and retaining tax professionals)
Your client responsibilities
5. High level management of the successful delivery of technically complex and demanding consulting projects, ensuring technical excellence and practical / business driven approach taken
6. Manage indirect tax consideration as it relates to large and complex M&A transactions
7. Build and maintain tax relationships with clients and provide exceptional levels of client service
8. Negotiation skills, able to sustain opinion and handle challenges
9. Business development skills - able to identify opportunities to sell work by proactively managing existing clients and winning new clients
10. Manage possible leads from other areas of the practice
11. Build networks and relationships internally and externally for the team to leverage from
12. Contribute to successfully extracting maximum value for both EY and clients from the tax services delivered whilst managing risk appropriately for both client and the firm

13. Business development skills, able to identify opportunities to sell work
14. Effective time management, ability to remain calm when under pressure to meet deadlines
15. Excellent communicator in a range of situations both written and oral and in virtual and in-person environments
To qualify for the role you must have
16. Significant experience in VAT from an accountancy or in-house team
17. ATT / ACA / CA / Tax Inspectors with full Technical Training course / Tax specialist qualification / or breadth of knowledge equivalent to a Tax specialist qualification
Ideally, you’ll also have
18. Project management skills, plan and prioritise work, meet deadlines, monitor own budget
