Overview
A rare opportunity to assist a disabled woman with all aspects of personal, domestic and social tasks to lead a more active and outdoor life; including helping her in innovative ways to look after her dogs and cat. In essence, the role is to be my arms and legs. Previous experience is not a prerequisite, as training can be given.
About the client
My name is Philippa Armstrong. I am 65 years old and I live near Totnes. I have been an organic hill farmer, single parent, landscape architect, disability consultant and pioneered Open dog agility. I have quadriparesis and use innovative methods to live my life and manage my dogs. I have knowledge of links between canine diet, fitness, environment and behaviour.
When possible, I enjoy dog agility training and shows, the beach, Dartmoor, and tidying my house and garden. I have an excellent team of staff and aim to create a friendly working environment.
Responsibilities
* Assistance with all aspects of personal, domestic and social tasks. Note: my dogs eat raw food.
* Support to enable an active lifestyle and outdoor activities.
* Help to look after dogs and cats in innovative ways.
* Work as part of a team with other PAs to cover sickness and holidays.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Reliability – essential
* You have a good set of waterproofs, Wellington boots and a hardy nature – essential
* A driving license and willingness to drive a van – essential
* An understanding of canine reactivity/appeasement behaviour – advantageous
Shifts & Compensation
Shifts available – Friday afternoon 1pm to 7pm. Other shifts may become available in the future.
Hourly rate: Daytime £18.32 per hour.
