The Bid Writer will be responsible for supporting the creation and development of high-scoring proposals. This includes analytical research, response planning, bid writing, editing, reviewing, and proofreading. Working as part of a wider bid team, the bid writer will collaborate closely with bid managers, estimators, planners, operational support, and proposals colleagues to:
Develop persuasive and engaging responses that go beyond client expectations, incorporating tangible benefits, clear commitments, and relevant evidence
Embed the winning strategy within proposals, addressing client priorities and integrating strong, consistent win themes
Fully understand and respond to client questions and evaluation criteria with tailored, relevant content
Provide input and constructive challenge throughout answer planning and review stages
The role demands a proactive, adaptable, and agile individual who can operate effectively in high-pressure environments. The successful candidate will be able to manage multiple proposals and competing deadlines with confidence. Success will be measured by the production of high-quality, compelling proposals that help the organisation stand out and meet client expectations.
This position allows for hybrid working, with a minimum of two days per week in a designated office (location and working pattern to be agreed with line management). Flexibility may be required to support priority bids, attend site visits, or participate in in-person meetings.

Temporarily working from other offices to support key bid opportunities
Attending meetings or site visits as agreed with line management
Essential requirements:
Diploma or degree-level qualification
Formal bid writing training (e.g. Shipley or equivalent)
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Proven experience in successful bid writing within a relevant infrastructure or construction environment
Strong stakeholder management skills
Experience using knowledge management or content libraries
Desirable:
Professional proposals qualification (e.g. APMP)
Awareness of industry practices, standards, and terminology in construction or related sectors
