The Global Intelligence team protects Coinbase by preventing and addressing criminal activity. It acts as the liaison between law enforcement and Coinbase, handling both proactive and reactive investigations. We’re looking for a seasoned investigator and blockchain analysis specialist to lead the team, train law enforcement, and advise on internal tool development.
What you’ll be doing
* Independently conduct complex investigations into cases such as account takeovers, investment scams, and other potential illegal activities on the platform, identifying threat actors and working to recover funds for victims.
* Stay current with crypto industry developments, threat actor tactics, network protocols, and applicable regulation.
* Prepare detailed written intelligence reports and briefing decks for law enforcement.
* Handle highly sensitive cases with urgency and discretion.
* Master evolving investigative tools for blockchain analytics, social‑media platforms, identity research, data extraction, and analysis.
* Lead quarterly sprints on emerging threats and topical concerns.
* Occasionally respond to law enforcement requests and inquiries.
* Travel domestically and abroad to provide trainings to law enforcement and represent the team at conferences and high‑priority meetings.
* Provide guidance, feedback, and support to junior investigators.
What we look for in you
* 4+ years in the crypto industry focused on blockchain analysis, with expertise in tracing complex obfuscation techniques.
* Experience investigating cybercrime/financial crimes, especially for financial institutions or tech companies.
* Extensive experience with account takeovers and illicit activity investigations (crime‑as‑a‑service, fraud/theft, drugs, CSAM, transaction facilitation).
* Strong data analysis skills – proficient with pivot tables, SQL queries, and other analytical tools.
* Committed team player eager to pitch in wherever needed.
* Comfortable with public‑records research and OSINT expertise.
* Excellent written and verbal communication, able to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely.
* Excellent professional judgment, time‑management, and organizational skills.
Nice to haves
* Certifications such as CRC, CISC, CEIC, TRM‑CI, TRM‑ACI, or other relevant certifications.
* Experience working in or with law enforcement.
* Proficiency in Python or other programming languages.
* Proficiency in Dune.
Pay range for this position: £101,970 – £113,300 GBP per annum. Full time offers include bonus eligibility, equity, and benefits (medical, dental, and vision).
