Job Overview
Ward Sister – CCU (Permanent, Full-Time)
Frimley Park Hospital
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Ward Sister to join our dynamic Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) team at Frimley Park Hospital. The CCU is a 10-bedded unit dedicated to providing high-quality care for patients with level 1 and 2 acuity. Our patient group includes those suffering from acute coronary syndrome (ACS), acute heart failure, cardiogenic shock, bradycardic and tachycardic arrhythmias, and other complex cardiac conditions.

In this role, you will work closely with the Ward Manager to ensure the delivery of outstanding patient care, while leading the nursing team to maintain high clinical standards. As Ward Sister, you will collaborate with the Practice Development Sister to support the ongoing education, training, and professional development of staff members. You will also play a key role in enhancing the profile of the specialty, advocating for the growth and development of the CCU as a centre of excellence in cardiac care.

We are looking for a proactive, clinically skilled individual with a passion for cardiac nursing who is committed to making a real difference in patient care.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities
Lead the nursing team, ensuring the delivery of exceptional care to critically ill cardiac patients.

Collaborate with the Ward Manager in managing day-to-day ward activities and staffing.

Support staff development through mentorship, training, and appraisal.

Assist in the ongoing education and professional development of junior and senior nursing staff.

Actively contribute to the enhancement of the unit's profile, advocating for its development within the hospital and the wider healthcare community.

* Cardiology/acute care training

* ALS provider

Experience

* Some experience within Cardiology
* Significant experience at Band 5 in Cardiology taking charge of unit

Desirable criteria

* IABP management
* NIV management
* TPW management

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria

* 12 lead ECG interpretation
* Good time keeping and communication skills
* Teaching skills
* Self-motivated with the ability to motivate others
