Responsibilities
Provide supervision, support, training and advice and act as a source of specialist knowledge for CFT and RCHT in matters relating to safeguarding adults.
Day‑to‑day activity supporting the safeguarding operational workload and incoming referrals. Ensuring a responsive and visible safeguarding team to support frontline staff.
To support the Adult Safeguarding team managers providing safeguarding advice, guidance, supervision, resource management and training to all staff members, promoting evidence‑based professional practice.
The team is based between two sites, Bodmin and Truro. You may also be required to visit teams within the community to provide bespoke safeguarding advice and supervision sessions.
The position requires knowledge of adult safeguarding and domestic abuse legislation and its impact in practice.
Attendance at MARAC, Safeguarding meetings and MASH.
Main duties of the job
* Assist Safeguarding Services to ensure the effective delivery of the Cornwall Foundation Trust’s Safeguarding and Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust safeguarding agenda.
* Support the CFT, RCHT and the Local Authority in relation to the protection of adults at risk.
* Work positively to ensure safeguarding culture is embedded into every custom and practice of all Trust staff ensuring safeguarding is accepted as core practice and implicit to everyday care of people who use CFT and RCHT services.
* Contribute operationally to the early accurate identification and management of safeguarding concerns raised ensuring appropriate information gathering and decision making takes place.
* Ensure the safeguarding process takes account of the views of adults at risk and family / carers and ensure that their involvement is at the centre of the process.
* Ensure advocates are involved to represent people who use CFT and RCHT services where appropriate.
* Support the undertaking Section 42 enquiries caused to CFT and RCHT.
* Ensure the safeguarding process is followed as per policy and maintain adherence to Adult Safeguarding practice standards and timescales.
* Facilitate a range of meetings including initial risk management meetings and protection planning, attend MASH and MARAC when required.

Person Specification
Education / Qualifications and Relevant Experience
Essential criteria
* Professional Registration or Degree in associate subject field (eg social work/Psychology/Sociology) or relevant experience
* Substantial experience in relevant field, to include safeguarding adults (Health, Council, Drug and Alcohol services, Housing, Advocacy etc)
* Direct experience of supervising staff either through line management or practice teaching.
* Relevant experience of working with complex cases and adults at risk
* Direct experience of working successfully with staff from other agencies
Desirable criteria
* Evidence of post‑qualifying learning
