Consultant in Gastroenterology

Job Summary
We are looking to expand our gastroenterology team with the launch of our Community Diagnostic Centre in West Swindon (January 2025). The successful candidate will work across the Great Western Hospital site and the new CDC.
Responsibilities
* Perform endoscopic procedures using the latest Olympus scopes and stacks, including ERCP, EUS, BCSP small bowel capsule endoscopy, oesophageal dilatation, and a single general anaesthetic list per month.
* Develop and lead subspecialty interests in nutrition/IBD/hepatology and collaborate on upper GI and HPB cancer care with John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.
* Plan and implement oesophageal stenting and other advanced therapeutic procedures.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) discussions, provide evidence‑based care, and support junior colleagues through training and supervision.
* Engage in audit, management, and project work while maintaining high standards of clinical care.
Qualifications
Essential
* Fully registered with the GMC.
* CCT (or equivalent) in Gastroenterology, or within 6 months of CCT at interview.
* MRCP (UK)/MRCP (Gastroenterology) or equivalent.
* CESR (Gastroenterology).
Clinical Experience
* Clinical training/experience equivalent to UK CCT.
* Expertise in full range of gastrointestinal conditions.
* Ability to lead a multi‑professional team and take independent responsibility for patient care.
* Sub‑speciality interests supported.
Management and Administration
* Demonstrable ability to manage priorities and lead multi‑disciplinary teams.
* Experience of audit, management, and leading project teams.
* Flexible approach to work organisation.
