The Delivery Suite Coordinator (DSC) is responsible for leading the multidisciplinary team and providing woman-centred care, either directly within their caseload or indirectly by supporting midwives and staff liaising with consumer groups and external agencies. The role requires practicing in accordance with best practices informed by NICE and Government initiatives. Responsibilities include direct line management of staff, coaching, problem-solving, decision-making, and ensuring a safe clinical environment where practitioners deliver evidence-based, high-quality maternity care. The DSC also facilitates learning for staff and ensures clinical areas provide conducive experiences for formal learning.
Provide midwifery care in accordance with NMC midwives standards and codes of professional conduct.
The Labour Ward Coordinator will access support from their Professional Midwifery Advocate as needed. They will take responsibility for clinical, educational, and managerial leadership of midwives and support staff involved in hospital and community-based care. The role includes leadership and management skills related to health and safety, audits, risk reduction, staff and self-development.
Offer care, support, and up-to-date advice to women and their families across all care settings, adhering to Midwives' rules and standards.
Support the Head of Midwifery, Matrons, and Clinical Midwifery Managers in executing their roles. Demonstrate and promote excellent interpersonal skills, fostering effective communication styles.
The role requires shift work, including nights and weekends, and may involve occasional shifts as Maternity Bleep Holder.
