Job Duties
* Prepare, inspect, and maintain rigging and lifting equipment according to current safety standards
* Attach and detach loads to cranes, hoists, or structures using ropes, cables, slings, and chains, following site protocols
* Lift, move, and position heavy materials, components, and equipment used in thermal power generation, including turbines, generators, and piping
* Assemble and dismantle rigging systems to support maintenance, installation, and shutdown activities within the power station
* Select, check, and secure appropriate lifting gear in accordance with site-specific risk assessments
* Work closely with crane operators and site supervisors to plan and execute safe lifting operations in accordance with Altrad standards
* Monitor the work area for hazards, obstacles, and site-specific risks, particularly when handling sensitive or high-value equipment
* Follow strict health and safety procedures and wear all required personal protective equipment while onsite
* Maintain detailed records of lifting operations, equipment inspections, and safety checks
* Report faults, incidents, and equipment defects without delay
* Clean, inspect, and correctly store rigging gear and tools after completion of tasks
Required Qualifications
* Previous experience as a rigger in a thermal power station or similar industrial environment is essential
* Knowledge of safe lifting practices, load assessments, and hand or radio signalling procedures as required in the UK power sector
* Relevant UK rigging or lifting operation certification, such as NVQ, City & Guilds, or recognised scheme
* Valid ECITB CCNSG Safety Passport
* Strong understanding of relevant health and safety legislation and thermal power industry regulations
* Physically fit, with the ability to complete manual work and operate at height where needed
* High attention to detail and clear communication skills
* Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently as part of a team within a safety-critical environment
* Willingness to work shifts, overtime, weekends, and during scheduled outages or shutdowns as operationally required
* Experience with rigging for large, complex plant such as boilers, turbines, or generators is desirable
* Ability to read and interpret lifting plans, technical drawings, and method statements relevant to thermal power station operations
