We are looking to recruit a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our team at Hellesdon Hospital in Norwich. The successful candidate will be working in the therapies team and will be given the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills within acute mental health by working with a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).
The role involves implementing person-centred OT interventions and assessments and promoting the OT profession within this setting. The successful candidate will work under the supervision and guidance of an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist in order to refine their skills and develop within this role.
You will have the opportunity to develop strong therapeutic relationships with our service users during their admission to hospital which will support your professional approach and guide your assessments and interventions in order to make admissions meaningful and purposeful. Our current vacancy is on Mayfly ward, which is a 16-bedded female acute ward. However you will be employed by the Therapy Team who work across the 2 male acute, 2 female acute and 1 female Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit. You may be required to help cover other wards during annual leave, sickness etc. of other colleagues.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to take a clinical role in the OT assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of services for clients. Contribute to and participate in multi-disciplinary team assessments. Be involved in the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of person-centred care planning and person-centred formulations. Provide a first line response to referrals, providing where necessary a health and social care needs assessment or meeting the needs already identified in a health and social care needs assessment.
You will also liaise with third sector services within the local community in order to signpost and engage our service users in meaningful activities to promote their recovery when leaving hospital. It is a desirable requirement that you hold a full driving licence and the ability to drive Trust vehicles in line with duties for patient activities etc.
You will be required to supervise and support an activity coordinator, and be willing to learn and share knowledge with this activity worker and the wider team.

Person Specification
Knowledge
* Basic understanding of Mental Health Act 1983 and any updates
* Specialist Knowledge and application of Occupational Therapy Assessments and interventions relevant to this client group
* Understanding of the principles and application of the recovery model and social inclusion
Qualifications
* Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
* Professional Registration with Health Care Professionals Council

* Working clinically in a Mental Health setting
