Serco has been providing multi-activity and engineering support at RAF Brize Norton since 1997. We support the RAF and MoD with a range of services including engine and aircraft maintenance, fuelling, and ground control. RAF Brize Norton is the largest RAF base, vital for air transport and refuelling operations, with a team of 5,800 service personnel, 1,200 contractors, and 300 civil servants.
Role Overview
As an Aircraft Structures Technician, you will contribute to structural and composite repairs on C-17 aircraft, working both in hangars and on the aircraft on the line. The work involves working at heights and in confined spaces.
Main Responsibilities
1. Apply laminating and trimming techniques for composite materials, including carbon fibre and fibreglass wet layups, vacuum bagging, and hot bonder curing.
2. Operate workshop machinery and hand tools safely and effectively.
3. Interpret engineering drawings, manuals, and work instructions.
4. Maintain accurate documentation of work performed.
5. Collaborate with team members and departments to ensure quality and efficiency.
6. Ensure all repairs are correctly certified and records are complete.
Qualifications and Experience
* Recognised qualification such as BTEC/ONC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, or military course in advanced composite repairs.
* Experience in composite manufacture, maintenance, or repair, preferably in armed forces or industry.
* Knowledge of laminating and trimming composite materials.
Additional Information
This role requires MoD Security Clearance to SC level. We support you through the clearance process. Applicants should have been UK residents for the last 5 consecutive years.
