The Role
We’re looking for a dual‑skilled field service engineer—a mechanical or instrumentation professional with solid electrical expertise. This hands‑on role is part of our Kendal production team, where you’ll maintain and improve critical water assets in a fast‑paced, modern environment. You’ll need to be confident across both disciplines, ready to tackle a wide range of maintenance tasks and contribute to continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on electrical and, where trained, mechanical equipment to ensure asset reliability and performance.
* Support the delivery of compliance and safety standards, including statutory and regulatory requirements.
* Work independently and as part of a team to diagnose and resolve faults efficiently, minimising downtime.
* Participate in the development programme to build mechanical capability if joining with an electrical‑only background.
* Contribute to capital and operational project work, ensuring assets are installed, maintained, and commissioned to the highest standards.
* Maintain accurate and timely maintenance records and report any issues using the appropriate systems.
* Support the optimisation of asset performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
* Work safely and confidently in confined spaces, following all relevant health and safety procedures.
* Communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders to support a collaborative working environment.
Essential Skills & Experience
* A full UK driving licence is required, as travel to other sites may be required.
* Recognised qualifications in both disciplines (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
* Proven experience in electrical maintenance, fault finding, and repair within an industrial or utilities environment, alongside competency in a secondary discipline such as mechanical, instrumentation, or control systems.
* A strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental standards, with the ability to work safely in high‑risk environments.
* Good problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Willingness and capability to develop mechanical skills if not already multi‑skilled – training will be provided.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and maintenance documentation.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to engage positively with colleagues, contractors, and other stakeholders.
* Basic IT skills to input maintenance data and complete work records accurately.
This role may not be eligible for visa sponsorship.

* Salary £38,462 – £44,320, depending on the number of core disciplines.
* Generous annual leave package: 26 days (increases to 30 days after four years of service, with one additional day per year) plus 8 bank holidays.

* Up to 7.5% performance‑related bonus scheme and recognition awards for outstanding achievements.
* Comprehensive healthcare plan through a company‑funded scheme.
* MyGym discounts – up to 25% off gym memberships and digital fitness subscriptions.
