The Headteacher, Staff and Governing Body of Flushdyke Junior and Infant School are seeking to appoint a skilled and effective Senior Caretaker from the start of the Summer Term.
We are a small Junior and Infant School catering for pupils aged from 3 to 11, which benefits from an attractive building and grounds, including an extensive woodland, natural pond and gardens. We are extremely proud of our high standards and of our commitment to improving outcomes for all our pupils. We were judged by Ofsted to be a good school in our most recent inspection and we continue to strive to be the best that we can be for our children, parents and the local community.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced person to undertake responsibility for the day-to-day management of the premises related functions, including maintenance and security of the building and site. We would also particularly welcome someone who can become an integral and valued member of our warm, caring school community, who is willing to make a positive difference to the learning of our children and contributes towards the wider community of the school.
Primarily, we are looking for an individual who wants to work as part of a team, making a real difference at our school through:
1. Undertaking and arranging repairs, maintenance and decoration
2. Undertaking horticultural activities, gardening and maintenance
3. Contributing to effective risk management
4. Overseeing cleaning services
5. Contributing to Health and Safety related policies and procedures and successfully implementing agreed improvements
6. Co-ordinating lettings and carrying out associated clerical tasks
7. Contributing to the vision and values of the school
You will need:
8. Good numeracy and literacy skills
9. Skills and willingness to work in and develop our outdoor environment
10. Experience of horticultural work and an ability to relate well to children
11. A competent skill-set which enables you to carry out general repairs and maintenance duties
12. Good interpersonal and communication skills with adults and children
13. Self-motivated and willing to identify areas around school where actions are needed
14. Flexibility and a good sense of humour
15. Working knowledge of relevant policies, codes of practice and legislation in particular relating to Health and Safety
16. NVQ level 2 or equivalent qualification is desirable
