Overview:
Senior Electrical Design Engineer role within an energy infrastructure company, leading the electrical design process for high-voltage substation projects (up to 132kV) within the distribution and connections sector. Responsible for overseeing design delivery, mentoring engineers, and ensuring compliance with and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and coordinate electrical design for HV substation projects (SLDs, HV cabling layouts, protection systems).
* Review and approve technical studies (fault analysis, protection coordination).
* Ensure compliance with standards, BS EN and IEC regulations.
* Mentor and support design engineers within the team.
* Act as technical point of contact for clients and internal teams.
* Collaborate with project management, civil/mechanical teams, and site teams to deliver projects.
* Support tenders, procurement, value engineering and resolve design issues during installation/commissioning.
* Attend site visits and design review meetings.
Requirements:
* Degree in Electrical Engineering.
* 5+ years' experience in HV electrical design (substations up to 132kV).
* Strong knowledge of standards, protection & control systems.
* Experience with design tools such as AutoCAD, Amtech, ETAP.
* Leadership/mentoring experience.
* Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards.
