Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Chef to join our vibrant team. Banana Moon Bromley is a 70 place nursery. The ideal candidate will possess strong culinary skills, leadership qualities, and experience in supervising food production within a busy nursery environment. This role involves preparing nutritious meals, managing kitchen operations, and ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene. The successful applicant will play a vital part in creating a welcoming and healthy dining experience for children, supporting their growth and development through quality meal provision.
Duties
* Prepare and cook nutritious meals suitable for children in accordance with dietary guidelines and nutritional standards
* Oversee daily food production, ensuring consistency and quality across all meals served
* Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to maintain efficient operations
* Manage food safety protocols, including hygiene standards, storage procedures, and cleanliness of the kitchen area
* Coordinate meal schedules and ensure timely delivery of meals to different sections of the nursery
* Monitor stock levels and place orders for ingredients as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations
* Lead by example in maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment
* Assist with menu planning, incorporating diverse and healthy options suitable for children's tastes and dietary needs
* Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations related to food preparation and handling
Experience
* Proven supervisory experience in a professional kitchen or food production environment
* Extensive background in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen management within hospitality or restaurant settings
* Demonstrable leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively
* Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene regulations
* Experience working with children's dietary requirements is advantageous but not essential
* Previous experience in a nursery or childcare setting is desirable but not mandatory
* Familiarity with food service operations such as serving meals and managing stock levels
* 45 hours per week
* Paid overtime
