Our client, a prestigious educational institution in the heart of Richmond upon Thames, London, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the emotional and social development of our students, fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment that empowers them to thrive academically and personally.

As the ELSA, you will be responsible for providing tailored, one-on-one support and guidance to students, addressing their emotional and social needs. Your role will involve collaborating closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each student's wellbeing. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of emotional intelligence, child development, and the complexities of supporting young people's social and emotional needs. In this role, you will work closely with our client's pastoral care team, contributing to the development and implementation of the school's emotional literacy programme. This may involve facilitating group sessions, conducting individual counselling, and providing training and support to teaching staff. Your commitment to continuous professional development will be paramount, as you stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in the field of emotional literacy.

Furthermore, you will play a crucial role in maintaining detailed records, monitoring student progress, and collaborating with external agencies, such as mental health professionals and social services, to ensure seamless coordination of support services. Your ability to maintain confidentiality and work within established protocols will be highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide one-on-one emotional support and guidance to students, addressing their individual needs
* Design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities and interventions to promote emotional literacy
* Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student wellbeing
* Maintain detailed records and monitor student progress, ensuring compliance with school policies and procedures
* Contribute to the development and implementation of the school's emotional literacy programme
* Facilitate group sessions and provide training and support to teaching staff
* Liaise with external agencies, such as mental health professionals and social services, to coordinate support services
* Engage in continuous professional development to stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices

Required Qualifications and Experience:

* Relevant qualification in counselling, psychology, or a related field
* Minimum of 2 years' experience working as an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) or in a similar role
* Demonstrated expertise in supporting the emotional and social development of children and young people
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
* Excellent organisational and record-keeping abilities, with a keen eye for detail
* Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and working within established protocols
* Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of our student population
