MUFG, a globally respected financial institution, is seeking a Senior Human Resources Business Partner Director to join their London office. This pivotal role offers you the opportunity to shape and deliver a regional Human Capital Strategy that aligns with global objectives while considering local nuances. As a trusted advisor to senior leadership, you will play an instrumental part in driving organisational effectiveness, fostering a collaborative culture, and ensuring best‑in‑class HR practices across the EMEA region. MUFG’s commitment to professional growth, knowledge sharing, and inclusive teamwork makes this an exceptional environment for experienced HR professionals who are passionate about making a meaningful impact on both people and business outcomes. With access to global resources and the chance to influence high‑level strategy, this is your opportunity to thrive within a supportive and forward‑thinking organisation.
What you’ll do
* Partner with Regional Business Heads and leadership teams as a trusted advisor, aligning HR strategy with business initiatives and providing expert guidance on all aspects of human capital management.
* Identify training and coaching needs within the region, developing or sourcing relevant programmes in partnership with external providers to support employee growth.
* Foster enhanced global collaboration by building strong partnerships with stakeholders across regions and within the HR ecosystem, including Centres of Excellence and Planning teams.
* Support the Global HR Business Partner in designing and implementing the regional Human Capital Strategy, ensuring actionable plans are developed in line with both global direction and local requirements.
* Advise on organisational design structures to optimise efficiency and manage expense bases, contributing to the evolution of the global operating model.
* Lead or participate in global and regional projects with cross‑functional impact, collaborating with colleagues across different geographies to drive firm‑wide initiatives.
* Champion a high‑performance culture through effective performance management frameworks, pay‑for‑performance strategies, and leadership development activities.
* Guide and develop local HRBP team members by setting clear objectives, motivating them towards excellence, and ensuring alignment with business goals.
* Manage talent development processes including succession planning, headcount resource planning, internal mobility initiatives, and engagement strategies in partnership with Talent Acquisition teams.
* Oversee employee relations matters by providing advice on complex issues, ensuring compliance with regional legal requirements, mitigating risks, and supporting escalated cases as needed.
What you bring
* Extensive experience working as an HR Business Partner within a complex global or matrixed environment—ideally within financial services—demonstrating deep understanding of industry‑specific challenges.
* Proven track record of interpreting business strategy into actionable HR plans that drive organisational effectiveness over medium- to long‑term horizons.
* Expertise in people risk management combined with comprehensive knowledge of global regulations affecting human resources practices.
* Demonstrated ability to manage large‑scale projects involving multiple stakeholders across different regions or functions.
* Strong background in performance management frameworks, talent development processes (including succession planning), compensation review cycles, and employee engagement strategies.
* Exceptional interpersonal skills enabling you to build trust‑based relationships with senior leaders while providing thoughtful coaching on leadership effectiveness.
* Experience managing virtual or geographically dispersed teams; able to influence outcomes without direct authority through collaboration and consensus‑building.
* Solid educational foundation—university degree required—with preference for qualifications in employment law or human resources management.
* A consultative approach when resolving complex employee relations issues; adept at balancing legal considerations with practical business needs.
* Commitment to upholding compliance standards across multiple jurisdictions while applying a macro perspective to mitigate human capital risks.
